Hunters For Sale

Vere and Clea hunt all winter with the Quorn, producing high class hunters and eventers. Some of these fantastic hunters have been sold to members of the Royal family, and innumerable masters and huntsmen of the premier packs, as well as to ladies and gentlemen riding in the field.

These horses are mainly bought out of show jumping so that they are already experienced and well schooled jumpers that are capable of jumping a big fence. We do not like going through gates!

We buy quality, upstanding, three-quarter bred types, mainly from Ireland. We produce and train these horses on the farm, and in the hunting field with the Quorn, to cross the biggest hunting country of hedges, ditches, rails and gates. We have high quality hunters for sale.

For most hunting people, their hunter is literally their “horse of a lifetime” until it retires, and we try to provide them with this horse. Our clients enjoy being back in the office safe and sound on Monday, having enjoyed their weekend, or any other day of the week depending on where and when they hunt!

Vere had the honour of providing the legendary Ulrica Murray Smith, Master for 27 seasons and author of “The Magic of the Quorn”, with her last two master's horses. Upon her retirement, one was passed to the next master, Mr Barry Hercock, eventually retiring at 20 years of age having hunted 2 days a week, leading the field since the age of 5. It never missed a day.

In the Quorn alone, we have supplied horses to more than 10 Masters, 4 Huntsmen, umpteen Whips and several secretaries.

We have also sold horses to the Masters of numerous other hunts including; Cottesmore, Fernie, Belvior, Beaufort, Meynell, Cheshire, Wynnstay and VWH, to name just a few.

Please contact us for more information about the hunters for sale.

The Quorn Gate Jumping competition has run for 3 years. Every year thus far, the winner has been sold by Vere and Clea Phillipps.
